Beulah Marie (Jorgensen) Larsen, 103 years, of Fremont, Nebraska, passed away March 16, 2024 in Houston, Texas at the home of her daughter Linda and son-in-law Bruce Magelky where she had been cared for the last several years. Linda and Bruce were with her as they prepared go watch her favorite Saturday evening TV programs.

Beulah was born on January 3, 1921 to Lena and Jes Jorgensen of Fremont, Nebraska. She excelled in school, even with riding on a horse with two other children to attend. She graduated from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska where she met her Dane for life, Paul Larsen. They were married August, 19, 1945 in Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church.

Beulah had a career as a teacher in the country schools around Fremont. She enjoyed telling stories of the children she taught and things like going early to the one room schoolhouse to start the fire in the stove. For many years, Beulah and Paul raised their children in Dickinson, North Dakota where she also worked as a fourth grade teacher.

Paul and Beulah moved back to Fremont after they retired in 1983. Beulah found great joy in visits with her family and friends. Beulah and Paul enjoyed traveling to California, Oregon, Colorado, Alaska, and Texas to see their family. They also travelled to Denmark several times to visit family. Beulah was a long time member of the First Lutheran Church of Fremont and continued to enjoy their on-line church services. A skilled pie baker, Beulah's oft requested apple pies were legendary.

In her later years, Beulah resided at the home of Bruce and Linda in Houston, Texas., She remained as active as possible even as her health declined. Beulah stayed busy doing puzzles, reading her Danish newsletter, corresponding with friends and family, and talking on her phone. She loved viewing the wildlife in the backyard and in particular watching the milkweed as caterpillars developed into beautiful monarch butterflies. Her greatest joy came from visits with family, especially the frequent visits from her great=granddaughters Elizabeth and Katherine.

Beulah is survived by her four children and their spouses, Linda (Bruce) Magelky of Houston, Texas, Janis (Bob) Henry of Palmer, Alaska, Paula (Bob) Fanshier of Salem, Oregon, and Ron Larsen of Parker, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Michael (Deshea) Magelky, Nichelle Henry, Erin (Aaron) Fanshier, Chris (Marisa) Fanshier, Sara Henry, Kimberly Fanshier, and Jackie (Lane) Inman; and, great-grandchilden Elizabeth, Katherine, Laura, and Kaj. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul and her brother Norman Jorgensen.

The family would like to thank Rod Hardman of Christian Companions for his kind assistance when it was most needed along with her caregivers Evelyn and Bobbi, and Harbor Hospice. We would especially like to thank Beulah's dear friend and neighbor, Jodean Bridges, for the countless things she has done to help Beulah over the years.

The funeral service will be 10:30am, Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. A lunch will follow the service and burial in Bluffs Trinity Cemetery following the lunch. Visitation will be Tuesday April 2, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm.

Condolences(4)

  1. Viviane Shammas
My deepest condolences to Linda, Janis, Paula, and Ron at the loss of your beautiful Mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you. We had wonderful memories of your family from Clarinda.
  2. Janalee Kay Butler
It was such a great pleasure to visit with Paul and Beulah when we celebrated their anniversary, and later after my parents, Stan and Lorna Furr passed and we buried them at Trinity Bluffs Cemetary. With her passing, I find my heart break in knowing that I missed an opportunity to learn more about the family history of her Tante Anna, my great-grandmother, and the Nelsons.
That generation was a treasure in all our families' stories of coming to America.
My condolences to you all with Beulah's passing.
    Jan Butler
  3. Paul and Joyce Hansen
Paul and Beulah were always a wonderful part of our lives. I recall telling my wife, we will stop for about 20 minutes to say hello, then head home... about 4 hours later we are still there laughing and having a great time. Two of the most wonderful people God put on this earth. They are so missed, and we are so blessed to have known them.

  4. Mark and Caryl Grorud
Blessed be the memory of Beulah. A beautiful friend and neighbor to us in Fremont. A life well lived and loved. May the love of friends bring you comfort and the love of God bring you peace. May perpetual light shine upon her. With deepest sympathies, Pastor Mark and Caryl
