Allan M. Legband

January 21, 1937 - June 5, 2025

Allan Milan Legband, age 88, died Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Hillcrest Country Estates in Papillion.

He was born January 21, 1937 on the family farm southwest of Snyder, Nebraska to Arthur and Helena (Borgelt) Legband and baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Snyder. From his very early years, Allan was an active part of the family farming operation. He attended St. Peter's Lutheran school through 8th grade. In spring of 1950, he confirmed the faith into which he had been baptized, also at St. Peter. Allan graduated from Snyder High School in 1954. Pride in good stewardship of the lands under his care was always high in his thoughts. He, and brother Kennard, stayed on through the years - continuing to farm the home place and other nearby land.

Allan married Marjorie Joan Giblin on September 17, 1978 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Houston, TX. They spent the majority of their married life farming, first living in Snyder, then moving with their children to the Borgelt place south of Snyder. They attended St. Peter in Snyder until moving their membership to St. Paul Lutheran in West Point, NE in order to participate more fully in congregational life while their children attended its parochial school. Later on, Allan also applied his work ethic and mechanical skills to work at Wimmers packing plant. Upon retirement from farming and Wimmers, he was a dedicated employee at Walmart. In May 2017, Allan's beloved wife, Marjorie, fell asleep in Jesus. Soon after this, he decided to retire fully and move to Minnesota to live with his son, Joshua, and family. There he was blessed by the daily company of family while continuing to enjoy land stewardship in the garden, cheering on the Huskers, and puzzles. He was also very grateful to be welcomed into the community at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Spring Lake Park, MN during this time, going at every opportunity to receive Christ's Word and Sacrament there.

As he needed more care, he moved back to Nebraska near daughter, Sarah, finally settling into Hillcrest Country Estates.

Allan is survived by his children Joshua (Sarah) Legband, Rebecca (Sean) Hansen, and Sarah Huxoll and by grandchildren Caleb and Elizabeth Legband; James, Sophia, Audrey, Stephen, William, and David Hansen. He is also survived by brother Darrell (Loretta) Legband and sisters in law Aina Legband, Sandy Legband, Roberta (Bill) Blasdell, and Pamela (Tim) Bauerkemper.

Allan was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, and by siblings Arvilla, Verena, Arlene, Arnold, Delbert, Althea, Wilbur, Ardyce, Marilyn, Harold, Willis, and Kennard.

The funeral will be 10:30am, Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be one hour before service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the orphan grain train.
