Erven was born November 5, 1923 in Madison, Nebraska. On March 11, 1994 he was married to Mary Anne Weeks in Fremont, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jess and Elizabeth Keller Riehart, three brothers, and first wife Louise Janssen. Erven retired from the Union Pacific Railroad and lived in Fremont, and later in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Erven is survived by his wife Mary Anne, one brother Lamar Riehart of Norfolk, Nebraska, step-children Lynda Bentley of West Point, Nebraska, Mitchell Weeks of Texarkana, Texas, Cindy Vrba of West Point, Nebraska, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and two nephews.
Arrangements for a private memorial service will be announced later.
