Joan was born March 10, 1936 in Snyder, NE., to Walter and Elenor 'Westphalen' Ellerman. She died October 30, 2014 (5'4" - 140lbs, family joke with Elsie) at Nye Legacy Health and Rehab in Fremont. She moved to Pender and West Point before coming to Scribner in 1943. Joan was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She graduated from Scribner High School in 1953 and taught country school for several years. In 1956 she married Don Berg. The couple spent 1 ½ years at Fort Belvoir, VA., while Don was in the service. They moved back to Craig, NE. In 1959 they had once special daughter Sharon. In 1963 Don bought trucks from Don Kruger. A stay at home mom, Joan enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, telling jokes, bowling and golf. She was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 2005. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Scribner, where she taught Sunday School and served on the church council. Joan worked for many years at the Scribner Express.

Joan is survived by her husband Don, special daughter and special son-in-law Sharon and Jim Brandt of Hooper, two special granddaughters DonDel (Fred) Uhing of Fremont, Deane (Cody) Snow of Fremont and one great grandson Briar Uhing. Joan is also survived by 2 sisters Janine (Ralph) Wagner of Scribner and Donna Kruger (and special friend LeRoy Watson) of Fremont. Nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her great grandson Dalan, brothers Vern and Warren, nephew Daryl, sister Delores, parents and grandparents.

Visitation with the family will be Monday from 5-7 at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel in Scribner. The memorial service will be Tuesday at 10:30 at United Lutheran Church in Scribner. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to United Lutheran Church in Scribner and the Scribner Rescue Squad.
