Died Wednesday June 29, 2016 at the Hooper Care Center

Edna was born June 27, 1923 in rural Hooper, Nebraska to Eduard and Clara 'Wittmann' Fischer. She lived on several different farms growing up. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow on July 10, 1923 and confirmed on March 21, 1937 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. She nannied for several different families in the area including the Dean Lesher family which owned the Fremont Tribune at the time. Edna married Irvin Panning on September 16, 1945. They lived on the Panning homestead in the Immanuel area. After their marriage Edna worked as a CNA/CMA in several different nursing homes in the area. She also did home care for several individuals. In 1983 Irvin retired from farming and the couple moved to Fremont. Edna continued caring for people in their homes and nursing facilities.

Edna was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow. She was very active in the church teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, as a member of the Get Together Club (church quilting group), and holding various positions in the LWML.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband Irvin on March 14, 1998, a sister and also a brother.

The funeral will be 10:30am Tuesday, July 5 at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow. The Rev. Jonathan Ripke will officiate. Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Fremont Area Alzheimer's Fund (C/O Fremont Area Community Foundation), Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Hooper Care Center. Visitation will be on Sunday July 3, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, from 1pm to 5pm with the family present from 3pm to 5pm. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
