Robert O. Bailey, 93, of Fremont
died Friday August 22, 2015 at Fremont Health

He was born December 30, 1921 on the family farm near Schuyler, Nebraska to Claude and Gladys (Wigington) Bailey. Following high school in Schuyler, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served from May of 1942 and was honorably discharged in May 1946.

After his military service, Robert came to Fremont and worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. retiring after 35 years. Robert was married to Judy Lehman. She preceded him in death in August of 1975. Later, in October of 1976, Robert was married to Norma McCleery Simmons and Fremont has been their home.

They enjoyed traveling and square dancing. He attended his Marine Corps reunions as long as he could travel.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, and Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15, A.F. & A.M.

3 step-sons Joseph (Debe) Simmons of Abingdon, VA.
David Simmons of Fremont
Steven (Sharon) Simmons of Columbus
several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren
4 sisters Eunice Woods of Schuyler
Delzel Javorsky of Lincoln
Donna Nantkes of Lincoln
Rita Ann Krcha of Papillion
He is also survived by Judy's daughter, Shirley (Merlin) Kuss of Fremont

Robert was preceded by his first wife Judy, brother Jay Bailey.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Thursday (Aug. 27th) at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Hall. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. There is no visitation.
