Gene was born December 9, 1930 on a farm northeast of Fontanelle, Nebraska to George and Dorothy 'Fuchs' Bloemker. He attended Fontanelle and St. Paul's Lutheran Elementary schools. He attended Fontanelle High School through the 10th grade and graduated from Fremont High School in 1948. He married Harriet Giesselmann on October 7, 1952. They farmed north of Arlington until moving to Blair in 1970. He managed alfalfa pellet storage plants in Blair and Fremont. He moved to Dakota City in 1985 and worked for MCI doing maintenance and construction work. He retired and moved back to Fremont in 1996. Gene served in the active Navy Reserves from 1950 to 1958.
Gene was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Woodworking and golf filled Gene's retirement years with joy and satisfaction. He was preceded in death by brothers Rev. Rudy Bloemker and Robert Bloemker

The funeral will be 2pm Monday at Peace Lutheran Church east of Fremont (2102 County Road 26, 1 ½ miles east of Bypass on highway 30). Pastor Sean Tyler will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund. Visitation will be Sunday from 2pm to 6pm with the family present from 2pm to 4pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue for one hour before the service at the church.
