Elinor was born February 19, 1923 on a farm near Snyder (Cuming County) to Bernard and Ida 'Peatrowsky' Batenhorst. She was raised on the farm and attended school in Monterey. After her schooling she helped out at home before going to Chicago to be a nanny. She returned to the area and married Marvin Baumert on April 24, 1945 at St. Boniface Catholic Church Monterey. They moved near Scribner in 1950. Elinor, while raising her family and working with her husband on the farm, also worked for Shorts and did a lot of baking, making many wedding cakes. Elinor had many hobbies including gardening (especially roses), dancing, golfing, and bowling. She hand made satin quilts for all the grand and great grandchildren when they were born. She and Marvin loved to visit Las Vegas and fish in Minnesota and they also wintered for several years in Texas.

Marvin died in 1990. Elinor then married Leroy Kreikemeier on August 18, 1993. The couple lived in Scribner and enjoyed bus trips and dancing in West Point. They ate every Saturday at the Scribner Steak House and Sunday at the Office in Hooper. Leroy died in May of 2012.
